T&T Rooflines is based at 17 Egmont Rd in Middlesbrough, right in the middle of the area we cover, which means Middlesbrough jobs are never an add-on to our day, they are the core of it. The town covers a huge range of property, from the dense Victorian terraces of Ayresome, Linthorpe and North Ormesby, through the inter-war semis of Acklam and Beechwood, to the 1960s–1980s estates of Berwick Hills, Pallister Park and Netherfields, and out to the more modern, larger housing around Nunthorpe, Marton and Coulby Newham.

That range means we see almost every roof type Teesside has to offer within a few miles of our own front door: slated Victorian pitches, concrete interlocking tile council-built roofs, and modern hipped and gabled roofs on 1990s and 2000s estate housing. Being local means we know which streets sit exposed to wind coming off the Tees estuary and which are more sheltered further south towards Nunthorpe.

Being based on Egmont Rd off Linthorpe Road puts us close to the A66, A19 and A174, so we can reach anywhere in the town, from North Ormesby in the east to Coulby Newham and Nunthorpe in the south, within a short drive. That local base is also why Middlesbrough call-outs tend to get some of the fastest turnaround of anywhere we cover, simply because we are already here.

We know the terraced streets of Ayresome and Linthorpe where on-street parking and narrow back lanes need planning for, and the wider driveways of Nunthorpe and Marton where access is more straightforward, and we factor that into every quote before the day of the job.

Central and inner Middlesbrough, including Ayresome, Linthorpe, North Ormesby and parts of Gresham, is dominated by Victorian and Edwardian terraces with slated roofs, decorative ridge tiles and, in many cases, the original timber roofline that has never been replaced. Acklam and Beechwood have a strong stock of 1930s bay-fronted semis, while Berwick Hills, Pallister Park, Netherfields and Thorntree contain large amounts of 1950s–1970s council-built housing with concrete tile roofs, much of it now on a second covering.

Further south, Nunthorpe, Marton, Coulby Newham and Stainton have a wide range of 1980s–2000s detached and semi-detached housing with straightforward hipped and gabled roofs, generally in decent structural condition but with the same wear pattern we see everywhere on Teesside once a roof passes the 25–30 year mark.

In the Victorian terraces of Ayresome, Linthorpe and North Ormesby, the most common calls are for chimney repair and re-pointing, slate repairs, and roofline replacement where decades-old timber fascias and soffits have finally given up. In the council-built estates of Berwick Hills, Pallister Park and Netherfields, we regularly carry out dry verge and dry ridge work and full re-roofs where the original 1950s–1970s covering has reached the end of its life.

In Nunthorpe, Marton and Coulby Newham, the calls tend to be for guttering replacement, moss removal on shaded pitches, and repairs after slipped tiles or storm damage, since these more open estate roofs can catch more wind than the sheltered inner-town streets.
